I pray this in Jesus’ name for you sisters!
“Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (II Thessalonians 1:11-12 NKJV)
Precious sisters, daughters and princesses of the King of Kings, please understand that sometimes, our dream ministry does not happen as soon as we’d like it to. Sometimes it comes decades after we first envisioned it.
Remember how long it took Joseph’s dream to manifest? And the promise to Abraham and Sara? Who are we to think we must receive our ministries sooner than they did?
I have had plenty of visions for ministry. Some I’ve rushed to see happen, and they failed, others likely won’t happen until I’m in my late thirties or forties or later. But right now, I do have ministries. Sure, they may not be huge in scope in comparison to some people’s world-wide ministries, but I’m not to compare. God’s Word says:
There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all … But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ … For in fact the body is not one member but many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. (I Corinthians 12:4-7, 11-12, 14-25 NKJV)
Right now, these are my ministries:
1.) My marriage
2.) The child in my womb
3.) This online Better Than Edward blog (and my other blog) and Facebook support group
4.) My fantasy trilogy
Now these ministries may not seem as great as others, but God basically says in the above passage that He views all individuals/their ministries in the body as of equal importance, and the “lesser ones” He gives even greater honor to.
It’s really all about timing. When we’ve grown in character, proven ourselves faithful with the little He’s given us, then God can entrust with more.
So let us be humble and trust our God has perfect timing, and know that our simple child-like faith pleases Him even more than our desire to serve.
