Becoming A Proverbs 31 Woman: Day 3

“She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.”-Proverbs 31:12

What a standard! To bring your husband good all the days of your life. It’s certainly not impossible, for in Christ all things are possible, including this verse.

So, do you bring your hubby good every single day—and not evil?

Check-list time:

Daily Good Toward Hubby
-respect
-timely meals
-clean home
-my body
-my companionship
-my support
-my encouragement

All of these are good things you can do for your husband on a daily basis.

Now interestingly enough, you can be doing some of these things for your husband, but if you’re also doing evil things against him, you are not being a powerful proverbs 31 woman.

If you cook wonderful meals, but then yell or be rude to your husband, the good you did is now soiled by the evil you’ve done.

If you keep the house immaculate, but nag or complain to your husband, your good deed and hard work is void.

“Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened ox with hatred.” (Proverbs 15:17)

“Better to live on the corner of a roof than to share a house with a nagging wife.” (Proverbs 25:24)

Don’t let the good you do for your husband be annulled by your negative emotions, which you should be giving over to Christ and allowing Him to renew your mind. I remember getting annoyed at times over silly things, and then the Holy Spirit told me, “Look at these things as opportunities to serve.” I immediately heeded that command, and have been freed from the negative emotions that follow annoyance. That’s why mind-renewal is so important. Many people are enslaved to their own thoughts, and act out based on what they think. But if you share God’s opinion on every matter, you will react in godly ways to every situation you face.

Remember, if you do evil to your husband, you’re sinning against God. No matter how much you think your husband deserves your meanness or coldness, God is not pleased with such behavior. He sees our very hearts and judges what is inside.

If you’re finding it hard to bring only good to your husband, really rely on God. Cling to His Word, cry out to Him for healing and restoration in your own heart. In Him you can always do good to others, even if they’re not doing good to you.

Proverbs 31 Woman Prayer

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name please help me to always do good to my husband and others, expecting nothing in return. Help me love as sacrificially as You do, and heal all brokenness within my heart. Amen.
